Unexpected news was received Saturday of the death of Rev. L.Y. Hays at his home on Monday evening in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was buried on Wednesday. He was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church for four years. His daughter, Emma, who has been a missionary in Tokio (sic) Japan for 3 1/2 years is returning on account of ill-health and will not be able to reach home for two weeks. - typed by kbz

Word has been received here of the death of Rev. L. Y. Hays, who was for several years pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, being followed by Rev. W. S. Pryse. Mr. Hays died at Fort Dodge, Iowa, and his daughter, who is a missionary to Japan, is now returning to this country and she and her mother will come to Crawfordsville shortly to reside.
